Canada native, Mac DeMarco, comes back with universal acclaim. As such, his third record, Salad Days, displays the mature sound of a 23 year old. Though many have painted the album as melancholic, upon further review, the aesthetics of this album portray the quite contrary. The tracks on this record provide a taste of the arrival of spring and the revival of life. All aspects of this record harmonize and collaborate to create a carefree sound, that’s perfect for this season. It’s as if DeMarco sat down, got inspired, wrote a couple of tunes, and said “Here it is, this is what I feel, this is what I do, take it or leave it.” (For the record, DeMarco said no such thing). Yet both lyrical and musical facets of this record flow in one accord to produce a solid album.
